The Cabana Set is a style made popular in the 1950s and 60s that has been largely forgotten…until now! We are reintroducing the style with the Cabana Shirt and Cabana Trunk and this summer it's all about gingham.

The shirt design is 100% true to its origins. The most iconic feature of the cabana shirt is the two cabana pockets on the front with white terry cloth contrasting trim and the shirt's white terry cloth liner. Like the original, it has a roomy fit and oversized collar. It comes in three gingham-print colors (Green, Red, and Yellow). It's made with 100% cotton shell and terry cloth liner. The fit of the Gingham Cabana Shirt is longer than our original Cabana Shirt to accommodate taller people.

The Cabana Shirt is a homage to a time when men's swimwear included pieces that were part Hawaiian shirt, part pajama top, and part robe. This is your grandpa's shirt!

The shirt is cute but it's giving more Christmas party than Cabana shirt. Its a thicker material which I probably wouldn't choose to wear outside in the sun, but that's just my opinion.

This shirt is huge! I know it’s supposed to be a relaxed fit, but it’s way too big for a size small. The proportions are also really odd.

Very thick material although soft amd comfy. Down side i think because of the thickness the xxl size isnt standard xxl it is actually smaller . And unfortunately for a rather muscular body. It doesnt actually fit.

Fantastic shirt. Fits very well. Boxy and 50s/60s-like in style while still being extremely flattering and versatile. The quality of the materials and the construction is also excellent and the terry cloth is soft, and absorbant - perfect for pool and beach days. Shipped very quickly, and the customer service was very friendly and to the point, although seeing as the shirt arrived in such good time, and without incident, there wasn’t much need to contact them more than once to confirm the shipping arrangements to the UK. Will definitely be buying from Hammies again. Would love to see a few more colours and variations of this brilliant style of shirt. Probably the only company out there doing high quality, vintage-fit beach and pool wear.

Although my daughter thought I looked like a picnic table, I am very happy with the fit and quality.
I’m 6’1” and 215. I chose the XL shirt (knowing to wear opened) and size 38 shorts. I usually wear a 36 jeans.
The shorts fit great, but no draw string. So if you are roughhousing in the pool, you may want to invest in some speedos under it. Otherwise the webbing is plenty enough “protection” for casual lounging and swimming and water slides.
Will be my go-to swim wear and already look it their other products.

Nice Cabana Shirt

I wish I could keep this cabana shirt. Ordered.an XL. It is more like an M to an L in width and length. Very short. I'm not tall. It barely makes it past my rib cage.
Love the quality and style. Wish they made a xxxl.

We appreciate your feedback, Curtis. Our original cabana shirt is quite short because traditional cabana shirts from the 1960s were generally short. We ended up making our Summer Cabana Shirt and Gingham Cabana Shirt longer so that it would work better for more people. I personally wear the Cabana Shirt open most of the time and when worn with the trunks, the shortness of the shirt is much less of an issue.

So retro!

The fit is short and wide, exactly how they were made in the 50’s and 60’s. It fits true to size. I ordered a medium and my husband wears a medium in tops.

TLDR: size up, thick knit, buttons only at the bottom

Love the shirt. Couple things to note before you buy:

Definitely size up. I’m 5’7” 160lbs, and bought a L and it fit well.

It’s pretty thick, so if you’re looking for something light and breezy, this might not be it.

Obviously meant to be worn open (since it’s marketed as swimwear) but still good to note that the buttons don’t go all the way up the shirt.

If you’re cool with all that, it’s great.

Love it! But but size up if you're unsure.

Absolutely adore this knit shirt / short sleeved cardigan! The fabric is thick, the knit is tight, and it's extremely well-made. I was unsure about sizing, but I followed the measurements in the sizing guide, and ordered in XL instead of the usual L that I wear in most brands. Turns out it was correct -- this item runs a bit snug, so I'm glad I went with the XL. For reference, I'm 6'2", 35 waist, 44 chest, and the XL is definitely the right size.

Love your shirt so I bought it for my husband. I ordered a size up because I wanted it to be a little roomier on him since we live further to the south, but it is a very thick knit. And what I love about Hammies, is they never failed to produce a very quality product that if taken care of properly will last many many years.

really pretty shirt and I love the piping. fabric is pretty stiff almost canvas-y in texture, so feels durable and retro but something to keep in mind.
