Cómo teñir
No existe una única forma de teñir a tus hámsteres, pero la mayoría de los métodos implican estos tres pasos:
- Fregado o prelavado: Aunque sus Hammies sean nuevos, conviene que la tela esté limpia de aceite, polvo e incluso huellas dactilares antes de teñirla, ya que estos pueden afectar la absorción del tinte. Puede usar un detergente textil profesional, pero cualquier detergente viejo servirá.
- Tinte: Existen muchos tipos de tintes y técnicas de teñido. Si es la primera vez que tiñes o te interesa un tinte fácil, económico y predecible, te recomendamos los tintes reactivos (en concreto, los tintes Procion de Dharma Trading ). Si quieres profundizar más, puedes probar con tintes naturales o vegetales (un buen punto de partida es el índigo prerreducido de Dharma Trading ). En cuanto a las técnicas, existen el teñido en tina (para colores sólidos), el tie-dye , el teñido con hielo , el teñido por transferencia, el teñido por descarga , etc. La mayoría de los métodos requieren un fijador, como el carbonato sódico, para fijar el color y evitar que se deslave.
- Lavado: Después de teñir, es muy importante lavar la prenda para no teñir accidentalmente el resto. La mayoría de las técnicas implican enjuagar con agua fría hasta que el agua salga clara y luego lavar con agua caliente y detergente (o al menos con colores muy oscuros que no se verán afectados por el tinte). Sugerimos lavar y secar con agua caliente para encoger la prenda.
No es difícil ni costoso teñir tus propios hámsteres y, después de teñir tu primer par, lo más probable es que comiences a teñir todo lo que veas. 😸

Historia
El short Hammies es un short clásico para una nueva generación. Este estilo se popularizó en los 70 en el sur de California y durante una década fue el básico de skaters, surfistas, patinadores, monitores de campamento, Tom Selleck y muchos más. A mediados de los 80, los shorts se alargaron y los pantalones se hicieron más holgados, y durante las tres décadas siguientes, los shorts cayeron en el olvido (un período también conocido como la Edad Oscura de los Shorts ). Absolutely love thes shorts. Grew up wearing Op (Ocean Pacific) cord shorts as a kid and these are the closest to those classics on the market today. Good quality and design.
I would love to see belt loops added. Could easily put on on back, 2 on sides and 2 through the top front pocket area at waistband. This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that sizing is somewhat inconsistent between the 2 pairs of 32" waist I own. Both bought at same time and washed / dried in same conditions. One pair is looser that the other. Belt loops would allow for belt in case of size discrepancies from factory or from elastic wearing out over time or between washes.
My navy pair seem to be very color fast and not fading but the gray pair are fading at the bottom hem of leg openings. I have owned these since April of this year and don't have too many miles on them.
I will definitely continue to buy but would love to see belt loops added.

Don’t put much in your pockets. That have no belt loops, your shorts will start to sag, they can’t handle much in the pockets. Also, they don’t keep their shape that well, after a good wash, they seem to tighten up again, but it makes me wonder how long that can last ? Otherwise, I do own like every color, but I think I like my Marine Layer cord shorts better. Thinner, have belt loops, muted colors, less stretch, problem is they had just two colors. Overall, these are aces, they just need some work to get my five stars
I've been looking for short-inseamed shorts for decades. I had O.P. shorts in the 70s and 80s but couldn't find them anymore. Hammies are exactly what I was hoping to find. I bought two pair to try out. I was so satisfied after receiving them, I purchased four more pair.

I was skeptical at first if I’d like the shorts but when I put them on, I loved them. The fit and style are so appealing, and the fact they’re comfortable too makes them even better. I live in New Orleans where’s it hot most of the year, so these are perfect for a day at the park or in the quarter.
I’m a size 30 women’s but wanted to test how the men’s shorts fit. I like them a lot! Same size, 30, but they’re not form fitting like the women’s cut; They have a little bit more room in the thighs since they are cut wider, more like regular shorts would.
The color is amazing and the fit is great. The waist band in the back is stretchy which makes these very comfortable.

I got these for my husband. They are awesome! Love the material and the fit is spectacular! We've been on the hunt for a shorter short (he is 5'9 and other shorts he buys hang to his knees) that's not too short. Sheer perfection in these. We're going to buy another pair in another color (we bought the black first). HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I bought it for my husband and we loved it. It looks super good and he says it is very comfy. We were afraid it might be a bit too stiff to move, but it is actually pretty soft and stretchy.
According to the size chart it should have been a 34, but he usually wears a 32, so we bought the 32 instead, and it fits perfectly.
These ran large for me. I normally wear a size 32 (my actual waist is more like 34") but when I tried on my 32 Hammies they were too big in the waist. A size down would have been better. Maybe if you're tucking in a terry cloth polo it works. I also just don't like a high rise. It really only works on tall guys. The length of the shorts themselves would actually be perfect if they had a shorter rise and a longer leg. They are well-made with a nice corduroy that I would have been happy to wear if they fit me properly.

So, so comfy. I love that they're 100% cotton. I love how stretchy and soft they are. I love how comfortable they are in the crotch. I love them so much I kept the first two pairs I tried on and then bought two more colors a month later. Pricey, but I have no regrets.
