The Rugby Shirt is a classic style that is as popular today as it was in the 1960s but there's something special about vintage rugby shirts that we love: the colorways, the heavyweight fabric, the life. We have been wearing vintage rugby shirts with the shorts and bell bottoms for years and we have developed our own rugby shirt that combines elements of our favorite vintage ones and is uniquely Hammies. Unlike most rugby shirts, ours is fleece knit vs. jersey knit with ribbing at the waist, so it fits and feels just like our varsity raglan. Additionally, instead of printed stripes, we joined two separate dyed panels to give it its two-tone look. Lastly, in classic Hammies fashion, we oversized the collar and added interfacing to it to preserve its shape and prevent wrinkling in the laundry. Like the rest of our varsity collection, we have spent the past 18 months perfecting the fit, feel, and details of the varsity raglan and we can't take it off!

This raglan crew looks like it flew right out of a vintage magazine from the 70s. It's quality is insanely soft and it fits true to size. I usually wear a small tshirt, but got this in medium and it still fits incredibly well. If you want it to appear oversized though (for a more modern fit) make sure to size up two sizes.
I love this sweatshirt because it's fun the wear reminds me of the real 1970's vibe. Keeps me warm in style washes well in the machine and this color and the others all coordinate so well with the bell bottoms.

I gave this item two stars because I absolutely love the colors and overall design. I had been waiting for it to go on sale so I could finally afford to purchase it, which made the disappointment even greater. Unfortunately, the sizing runs much smaller than expected. I followed the size chart and even used the chat recommendation, which suggested a size small, but it ended up being far too tight. It's a beautiful piece, and I really wanted it to work, but the fit is so restrictive that I won't be able to wear it.

I now look, and feel, like Magnum P.I. in this fantastic rugby shirt.
I am of course referring to Magnum P.I. in Season 1 - with the original theme by Ian Freebairn-Smith. From Season 2 onwards, they changed the theme music to the Mike Post theme that we all know and love. Freebairn-Smith's ambitious jazz fusion romp was definitely a hang over from the late 70s, but nevertheless it gave the Magnum intro a certain 'je ne sais quoi,' but I digress...
If you really want to make the most of a shirt like this you need some short shorts, preferably in off-white. Throw in a cool glass of Old Dusseldorf and you're ready for action. Bon Voyage!

Very soft, comfortable sweatshirt. It is more fitted than other sweatshirts so I would a size up. Also, mine did not come with a patch as shown in the photo and in the description.

I have gotten so many compliments on this since I snagged it, it’s both casual, formal, but if it is nothing else it is memorably bright. Was an immediate upgrade to my rugby shirt selection.

It’s ok - thought it would be better material. I’m not really into slim fit sweatshirts - the whole point is to be comfy if I’m wearing a crewneck. This one seems to be very casual in color but more dressy in cut.
The silhouette is flattering and the collar is generous. I like the rich cream color on the lower half and the way the panels are sewn together. Bottom hem is snug and perfect. A peacock blue or a plum upper half with this cream would be nice. 🤞
It's hard to find a solid 100% cotton sweatshirt anymore. This one fits like vintage raglans from the 70s minus the polyester. I got the cream and navy and I have been wearing them constantly this fall. 5 stars!
